De Lier  27 October 201109:55

There aren't just more green sites to visit during the Technical Trials; there are also considerably more research sites.  These include the GreenQ Improvement Centre, the Wageningen UR Glastuinbouw research site and Demokwekerij Westland as participants in Technical Trials. By adding these the Technical Trials gives visitors from home and abroad the possibility of keeping up to date with a wide range of research via tours of the different research departments.

The GreenQ Improvement Centre currently has seven different active researches on the go which include various researches concerning The New Cultivation: a research into increasing Amaryllis productivity and a research into limited CO2 dosage with tomatoes.

There are a total of 12 researches concerning vegetables and potted plants that can be admired at Wageningen UR Glastuinbouw in Bleiswijk. A few of the high points are the VenlowEnergykas (Venlo low Energy Greenhouse), the Daglichtkas (Daylight Greenhouse) and the ZonWindkas (Sun, Wind Greenhouse). There is also a range of different researches that can be visited at Demokwekerij Westland. Among other things these include a research into the light spectrum when cultivating tomatoes using SON-T, Plasma and LED lighting and a research into the effectiveness of biological pesticides with potted plants.

The second edition of the Technical Trials takes place from the 1st to the 4th of November 2011 during HortiWeek. Those at the Horti Fair who are interested will be provided with information from a stand in the style of a Central Station (stand number 11.0304). More information about the Technical Trials will follow via various media including Twitter (@Technicaltrials) and the website www.technicaltrials.nl.
