  • Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Signing between Priva and Beijing Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences (BAAFS)

De Lier  01 November 201105:19

Today at the Horti Fair 2011, Priva CEO Meiny Prins and Beijing Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences (BAAFS) Vice-President Cheng Xianlu signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU), outlining their plans to work together to introduce state-of-the-art greenhouse technology to Beijing and make profitable, sustainable and clean food production possible.

The cooperation between Priva and BAAFS will focus on the exchange of knowledge and expertise. The signing took place at the Priva booth at the International Horti Fair in Amsterdam, the biggest international trade fair for technology, innovation and inspiration in horticulture.

Exchange of knowledge and solutions
Priva sees great potential in the Chinese horticultural industry. However, at present, due to limited knowledge of growing techniques and a lack of using modern technology in climate control and irrigation, the production yield rate per m2 is considerably lower than for example in the Netherlands. The horticultural sector in China shows an enormous determination to improve growing techniques and raise efficiency by implementing advanced production technologies.  Furthermore, growers in China are more and more faced with rules and regulations regarding emission and water and energy consumption. These developments offer interesting opportunities for Priva to transfer knowledge and solutions.

BAAFS
The Beijing Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences (BAAFS) is a research organization, focusing on projects concerning basic, applied and exploitable agricultural research. It is BAAFS' ambition to further develop metropolitan modern agriculture production technology through the introduction of intelligent greenhouse solutions.

Priva
Priva BV is leading in developing and producing technology designed to optimize primary processes controlling environmental conditions in a sustainable and innovative matter. By optimizing primary processes, Priva aims to help growers to achieve higher yields per square meter while minimizing the use of scarce natural resources such as energy and water.
